Hello
« on: November 26, 2010 - 11:08:06 PM »
Hello, i'm new here. I just picked up a 1964 Plymouth Barracuda with a 273. I'm looking to restore the car to my specifications and put out atleast 400hp all motor. I'm only used to building 1990's honda's so i'm new to the american cars. I could get anything i wanted but with the Barracuda i don't even know where to begin to get parts.I know i can get some of the performance parts pretty easily but what about the body parts. Can someone help me out with what i'll need for the head and block to make 400hp safely? Also i want to convert the car to discs brakes all the way around and upgrade the rear end, anyone have any ideas? Thank you

Welcome to the board.  What body parts do you need?  I would stay with a small block in your car due to the narrow width in the engine bay.  You should be able to get the performance you want from a 360.  See if you have an 8 3/4 rear.  It will not have a rear cover.  Instead the whole gear unit comes out from the front of the rear in the same way a 9 inch Ford does.  You have several options for aftermarket 4 wheel disc brakes.

Welcome B.B.    I see a few reproduced items for 64's, if your needing fiddly stuff there are a few recyclers that specialize in Mopar.  I've been to this yard, they have acres & acres just be prepared to pay $$ http://www.shopmopar.com/home.html

I believe there are two 64's being parted out over on FABO.

Welcome.  Lots of good folk around here.
