It's a looker, just your run-of-the-mill 318 Challenger dressed up as an R/T. It has some issues, though, under the hood. It leaks every flavor, has a few rust areas, and while it starts right up every time, leaves a little to be desired in the performance area.
For the performance issue, I've built a mild 360 motor:
'75 block bored + .030
KB 107 pistons
Full floater 340 rods
New cast crank (std. stroke)
Reworked 596 heads with Crower springs
Comp Cams Thumper cam
Edelbrock Performer intake
Edelbrock Thunder AVS 650 carb
Once the motor was done, I decided that I would do an "underhood restoration" while I've got the 318 out. So, that's where the story begins.
Initially, at least, my goal is to have a pretty stock look under the hood, just as if a 360 were offered in 1970. It's an A/C car so I'll retain that (the wife needs air!). It's a great driver so I don't want to compromise the drivability of the car. That's why the small block (and everything bolts right up). I'd love feedback and suggestions so if you've got 'em, share 'em. Oh, and I need help understanding just what things under the hood were supposed to look like. What's painted, bare metal, black, body colored, etc...
