1970 Challenger R/T SE Dash Emblem - Chrome?

I have a question regarding the finish of the "Challenger" script dash pad emblem for my 1970 Challenger R/T SE.   This is the piece at the far side in front of the passenger

Does someone know if these were orignally of a chrome finish, or simply black.

Any info would be appreciated!  Thanks to you all.

Chrome originally but just on the face.

It was VERY thin & wore off quickly.

You can use a chrome pen - it leaves a nice coat of argent/chrome but also wears quickly.

Are you thinking of something like a metallic "Sharpie" pen?   It's an interesting thought

That is a great idea.  I am going to give it a try.  I am finding that chrome plating plastic is not cheap.  That would be worth a try first.
