Need Advice from all you welders

Well I have decided to learn to weld. I know very little about it but am not afraid to learn. Saw this listing on CL and wondered if it is a good deal or not?? I will not be welding anything super heavy, mostly just car stuff. Please let me know what you think and if there are better systems to starts with I would like to hear about those as well.

that`s a good quality welder. It will weld light H beams with no sweat too    I can`t tell you anything about the price. I just know a bit of prices in my country, but looks like a good deal.

 I just bought a 180 mig made by Lincoln  auto dimming helmet for $625 which is more than adequate , that welder is more professional , & Hobart is a decent name & you can get parts for it

I have a Lincoln mig  weldpac 100 I've had it for 15 plus years and NEVER had a problem! It plugs into 110V
For a Tig I have another Lincoln Invertec v-205-t

I LOVE this machine! the size is perfect and welds aluminum beautifully! It wsaen't cheap , but you get what you pay for!

That is a nice welder and a decent price, I bet he would take $900 for it. I've got a Miller and I love it, but I've heard good things about the Hobarts.

Hobart is a good name! I used a Hobart tig at work for 17 years and never had an issue! I'd stick to Lincoln, Miller, or Hobart! ....the "big three"

For car stuff, you don't want a big welder.  Sheet metal is really thin.

I agree with Cody.  That is way more welder than you need.  You can get a used Lincoln for around $500 + or -.

Yep! Just wire size down and turn it down, or wire size up and turn it up. An excellent all around machine.

For car stuff, you don't want a big welder.  Sheet metal is really thin.

I don`t agree with that.  What you want is a big welder with a big range in power. This one does 30-210 amps... so no problem welding sheet, it`s a great quality machine and it`s not a difficult one to adjust, which comes in handy if you don`t know how to weld.

Dear Confederate,
It is over priced! you can get a better deal.

A factory refurbished from National Welders or one of your local distributors.
Or a local welding shop that wants too upgrade.

This way you can try it out or have them demonstrate it for you.

Buyer beware:there are things not to by on the internet And high tech Electronics is one of them.
If this was a great machine, he may have found a way to keep it.
You being a novice, don't know enough to know if it will work well.

What if it welds well on heaver gauge metal but the voltage won't adjust low enough for thin sheet metal.
What if the wire speed won't adjust or the speed sensor is glitchy.

Back in the welding shop we would fight over the best machines(and these were relatively new and good machines)

I just picked up an Eastwood 175 amp unit. I liked the adjustmant range for wire speed and heat, plus it came with a spool gun for aluminum. I'd like to see a better duty cycle, but its not like I'm using it as a production welder and running it for extended perods of time. All for $500.
