Andrew's 73 challenger
« on: December 06, 2010 - 11:59:24 PM »
its going to be a slow build thread, since i got layed off in september. i just got the car about a week ago. so far ive replaced the t handle and the battery hold down. the car has a fresh motor and trans the motor is suposibly stock with a edlbrock performer intake and carb feels like it has about 300hp. the trans is a 727 with a manual valve body and shifts hard. the interior is in great condition, except the drivers seat has a few little tears. the car came with a 10 disk changer in the trunk and and a cd player in the dash. it has new leafs in the rear and new bushings front and rear. so here are some pictures. ps the car came as frost green what color should i paint it? im kinda leaning twords plum crazy

Hi Andrew!  Welcome!

Looks like a cool car to tool around with!

Plum crazy is always a nice color, IMO!

Feel free to ask lots of questions!  Lots of nice people with a lot of knowledge of these cars here.

Thanks Phil.
have you seen a older challenger with the newer b5 blue? it looks like it has alot of peril in it. thats my second choice new b5 blue and rapterliner (bed liner) as a vinyl top. the rapter looks good aslong as you dont put it on to thick.

Good Score Andrew.... If your not familiar with JA5 Dark Poly Silver here's what she looked like new... I notice a good bit of the original tail finish survives, not often seen.

Looks like a really solid starting point.  Good luck with it.  Just a word of advise...take lots and lots of pictures.  Lable and bag all the nuts/bolts/screws with their location on the car.  Most importantly, take your time.  There's no rush.

Before you completely dismiss the origonal color, find a fresh example of it.  It's easy to dislike a color when its old and worn out. Most colors really look great when they are new.  Purple is a nice color but there are a lot of purple cars out there.  You'd really stand out if you painted the car in its origonal color.

Check out this link.  It shows all the available colors and what year they were offered.  It looks like frost green was only available in 74.  What's your paint code?

:iagree:  I forgot to add in my last post that the green in the trunk area actually looks pretty nice. Might want to try to find some pics of a Challenger in that color...  :dunno:

Nice car you got there.  Ja5 would look sweet, i went with sassy grass green. My car was an original petty blue color with a white vinyl top.

Very cool!!!   I thought something was fishy when you said frost green.  That was a 74 only color.

If you don't already know, JA5 was a one year only color on E-bodies.  It's a pretty rare color that you don't see very much.  Wade(Bullitt) and I both have JA5 cars.  Welcome to the club.  What is your SPD? (scheduled production date)
