1970 Challenger R/T SE - Front Valance Trim
« on: December 07, 2010 - 09:59:47 PM »
I have seen some Challenger SE's with chome trim around the opening below the front bumper on the front valance.

Does anyone know if this came on all Challenger SE's?

If not, and was a separate item, would it have a separate code on the fender tag?  I'd like to put these on the car, but only if the trim came on the car from the factory.

I can't put my finger on a picture right now, but hope to.

Any help would be appreciated!!

It came on all SE's as part of the molding package.  The molding package was standard on the SE and optional on other Challengers. I don't have the codes with me right now.

My codes are A63 (Challenger SE Molding Group "A"), M31 (Belt and Hood Moldings) and M25 (Wide Sill Molding) on my 70 Challenger R/T (non-SE) which also included the moldings along the back of the hood, along the top of the doors, and the finish panel around the tail lights, wide rocker moldings, and front valance trim.

Here is an old image I used for the "What the Heck is it" Game.

That is an awful lot of trim on that package.  I bet it looks pretty good.

Thanks for the picture.

Anyone happen to have one on the car?

I believe that trim was 2 pieces in 70-71 right?

In 72-74 it became standard on all Challengers and was one piece.

the 70 piece is a 2 piece trim , it is reproduced by Mike at BEA parts , I do have a decent original off my car available but it has road rash from rocks being thrown at it

My 6 pack Challenger also has the same codes.  I doubt there were many 6 packs built like ours.

Thanks guys.  If that front valence trim came on all of the SE cars, I guess I have another item on the to do list.   I think that front trim really sets the car off nicely.

FYI: THe BE&A parts are the wrong finish. Originals were bright, shiny anodized, but the repops are more of a satin finish. I alerted the sales tards at Carlisle about it, but they didn't seem to give a crap.

I agree that $275 is about double what the retail should be on these. I'm a toolmaker, so YES, I do know what it takes to make parts like this.
