Another horror story
« on: December 11, 2010 - 06:48:05 PM »
I am sitting here totally dissapointed on the way my bodyman conducted bussiness. He has fed me a line of baloney that borders on criminal. Can't count the number of times he promised me that the car just needed a little more "fine tuning" either in the engine bay or trunk. He told me that the outside had gotten base coat and 5 coats of clear. After having my challenger fro 13 months, I finally was told to come pick it up The wimp did not even have the nerve to face me, and left a message saying he had a doctors appointment.
When I arrived at his shop my car was still in half primer, half body filler. some panels were still naked steel and had rust. All I can say is I am glad to have my car back from this pathetic loser.

That blows, at  least you rescued it. Its so hard not pop these dudes in the head, and be the better man.
My 'Cuda has been sitting since the spring, and my body man has finally started on it again...aaaarrgh!

Nick - Sorry to hear about your story...but glad you have your car back.  I wnet thru the same thing at a local body shop.  I wonder how they can sleep at night.
I started a post in the body section for recommended paint/body shops...maybe one of them is near your area.  Best of luck and hope the new year treats you better.  You deserve it.

Nick,

I fully understand your frustration, but trust me, I have seen much worse happen to guys that has literally led to their financial ruin!  As noted by the other members, you at least have your car back, so let's see some pictures and figure out what needs to be done, what your current budget looks like (whether you have enough funds to proceed now or need to save up) and then we can explore how to get the right body guy at the right price involved to complete the job.

I finally took some pictures. Bare in mind this was supposed to be ready to wet sand and seal and base coat/clear coat at this stage. The weather is warming up and I will see if i can tackle some bodywork,

Did the body guy do good work any way?
Did he fill the holes with putty or repair with metal?

Wow, that's really crappy on the body shop owner's behalf...I'm so glad I know a great body shop & the guys who run it are true to their roots.
