wish I could say I built it, but...I bought it already built pretty much as you see it 18 months ago.
I knew I didnt have the patience, skill, tools, garage space, etc, so I just took the time to find a car built the way I wanted it.
But I have added hundreds of hours cleaning, modding, upgrading certain things, and I think it really shows.
Thanks for all your comments.

I was in a similar situation as you -- not having patience, skill, tools, garage space, etc. However, I took the "restoration" route, and now I wish I had been as wise as you and just waited to buy one already done. I'm happy with how my car is turning out, but I have WAY more money dumped into it than what it will ever be worth. I keep clinging to something a friend told me years ago: "if you buy what you want, you will soon forget what you paid for it." Maybe that'll be true once I get the car back in my garage and I can drive it.

if I bought my car as a roller and then put it together, I would have TWICE what I have in it now.
As it is, I have in it about what we bought my wifes one year used Acura RL for.
I prefer my car.

I know I'll do it differently next time. I figure the only people who can make a build cost-effective are the people who can do much of the work themselves. That's not me, so I won't build another car -- or more accurately: have another car built for me. I'll buy one already done.

And just a few more miscellaneous before and after pics (I did the rust converter/encapsulator/extreme chassis black thing underneath).
It looks 100% better and I hope it stays that way.
The 3 ring binder and files I put together include all sorts of reference materials, original brochures, etc, and a 2" thick pile of receipts going back 10 years and encompassing most of the build by the prior owner.
And moper, if you're out there, since you owned the car in high school, I'd love to have copies of a couple pics of it from back then

used my iphone to take the fire truck shot since it was kinda impromptu. Somehow it distorted the rear of the car to look bigger and higher than it really is. The rear wheels look bigger, but they are 17s all around (17x9.5 w/275-40 and 17x8 w/245/45).
been trying to scout a good location to take a picture with nothing but ocean behind it, but govt. is good at shutting off access to all the good old places I used to go. California is THE place for good pictures. No mountains here!
Cant remember where I found the wood pistolgrip, maybe ebay or one of the vendors on here, but theyre not hard to find. Simple to make one yourself if youre handy with wood. Just "whittle" the two pieces to the right shape and drill the holes. Done. I think the wood feels better than plastic.
Has anyone gotten the 2011 CC calendar? Is my car in there?
