That is too funny - I bought mine to move the 70 Challenger R/T and its parts along with my tools from TX back to FL!!  Where are you moving from and to?  I got about 9-10 mpg pulling the car & trailer with at least 1000#'s loaded in the bed.  I went from Fort Worth to the West Palm Beach area.  Matter of fact, I am booking the Uhaul to move the household stuff this morning.

Your kids are still very young so you'll need car seats.  I'd highly recommend test fitting the car seats and the loading them into the seats BEFORE you buy one of these.  The suicide doors really suck to maneuver around and having an arm full of squirming kid will even make it tougher.

We are moving from Panama sh!ty...I mean city  :poopoke: to San Angelo TX. I figure I will probably be around the same load that you were hauling so I can expect about the same gas mileage. That is fine for pulling the car. I used to get my son in and out of a 2 door cavalier so as long as it isnt harder than that...i should be good. Will definately take your advice on fitting the carseats BEFORE buying the truck.

Best of luck on your move. I was going to go the UHAUL rate but we dont have a house when we get there so it adds up having my stuff in a truck for 2 weeks while we look for a house.

A really good web-site for Dodge Rams starting with the 1988 model to date is the : www.turbodieselregister.com . It was established primarily for the benefit of Turbo Diesel owners, all makes but especially Dodge.  It covers all items in or about the trucks so would be of great benefit of gasoline powered Rams as well.  Check it out!  PK

I have a 95 2500 Diesel with a manual tranny....consistently getting about 20 mpg....have over 250,000 and still on same clutch, tranny etc....dad has a 95 as well and his 5th gear just stopped working....I guess that it happens with these style Rams....

Well about a week and a half ago i bought a black 99 Ram. So far i am loving it. I had to fix the exhaust and decided to go with a flowmaster with duals out the back. other than that the truck is nice. just needs paint.

How did your 1500 do with towing that big enclosed trailer around?
My poor old 1500 has one foot in the grave thanks to tinworms.  Someday in the near future I might be getting an enclosed trailer to haul my e-bodies around, and from stories I have heard, had been thinking I really ought to get a CTD 2500 for my 1500's replacement if I want a truck up to that chore. But hearing that you made a long trip out to PA and back doing that with a gas 1500 has me wondering if I really need to spend the extra $$ on a used truck and maintenance buying a diesel or if I might be OK with another 1500?

I pull that trailer all over. It has been to Carlisle twice and to CT & RI once.  While in the mountians in PA the slowest I get is 50 - 55 MPH climing the big hills in second gear. I never use OD while pulling. We have went manny places with it. My truck is a 360 and automatic. I have the factory trans cooler and I added two aftermarket coolers. I also have two large electric fans to help cooling while I'm at slow speeds. My trans guage runs around 170- 180 on a 90* day. I also run full synthetic oil in everything. I agree that a CTD would be better but for the amount of towing I do it just wouldn't pay. Only you can say if you need to go with a CTD. For the cost of the truck, the upkeep and the price of the fuel it just dosn't add up for me. 99% of my time I'm not towing anything.
