Is this the car you want to put the 70 grill in?   I don't think that would be a good move if you are building it to sell.

Red seems to be a good resale color but...a lot of Mopar guys will walk away from a car that isn't painted it's origonal color.  That may not be true with a 73 though.  What color was the car origonally?

It is the car I was thinking about doing th grille conversion on, but I decided not to.  The original color is a nasty tan, which I refuse to paint it.  I was thinking red too, but I didn't want to sway any opinions.

I don't know about that statement...Seems the "Numbers" on the drivetrain are what folks are more worried about...

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE GUYS!  Looks like red, blue, and black seem to be in the lead.  Personally, I've got it narrowed down to either red or blue.

I'm in love with all the high impact colors, but I constantly hear some people *****ing about them.  Because I am building this to sell, I think a blue or red would be pretty universally accepted (even though it won't stand out as much as I like).

BUT, who knows?  I've got some time before it's ready to paint, and if someone buys my 71 Charger that I have for sale, I may just keep the Challenger and paint it Panther Pink or Sublime.

I just bought a set of 15” ralley wheels, with 70 caps, for the Challenger, so now that’s settled too.

Hey, I just looked at a 74 Challenger Rallye 360/4 speed car today at memorylanemotors.com that is in excellent condition in B5 Blue and they are asking $20k for it which is likely "all the money" in this market.  Take a look at it on their web site to give you a better idea of condition & value.

ps: I am not affiladated with memorylane motors, nor is this my car

I would stick with the red, black or blue...personally I am a plum crazy purple fan----like mine is, but if it wasn't available the year the car was made you will lose some potential buyers.

Just for reference, you can take a look at the color wheel for the stock colors offered for 1973 and see what's most pleasing to the eye, or what catches you eye first.

I prefer red, but of course, I could be a little biased.  Here is a couple pictures of my 73 with the original Ralley Red color if that will help.  Good luck on you decision.

Well if I was going to rule out black and go with high-impact colors, I would choose tor-red.  That is one cool color!

Staying with a color that was available in that year is a good idea.  I will say that in 73-74 you could still special order any color you wanted.  There are a few 73 and 74 Challengers and Cudas that were painted plumb crazy from the factory.  There was one for sale about a month ago on E-bay.  It was discussed on a Moparts thread.
