What suspension rebuild tools to get?
« on: December 14, 2010 - 08:37:33 PM »
I have three front ends to eventually deal with, so I was thinking about investing in some tools to make the job easier. Plus I always feel like more of a man when I buy tools.
I have seen an A/B/E body ball joint socket that seems like a good idea. Is there a tool that will remove the bushings from a LCA? Any other recommendations?

I rebuilt the front suspension on my 70 Challenger recently.  I didn't buy any tools but already had a hydraulic press.  I did make some tools like the ball joint socket, the torsion bar removal tool and various bushings and press tools.  If you don't have these items or can make them you need: A ball joint socket and a good impact wrench, a heavy duty "C" clamp with fine threads to use in place of a press, and a torsion bar tool in place of a pipe wrench. Also you will need a flat fork to remove the tie rod ends and pittman arm joints.  Oh, and a big hammer!  PK

Mancinis carrys a front end tool kit , it has a puller for the lower control arm pin , you can pry the rubber out but you still have to cut out the shell for rubber lower bushings , the poly bushing do not require the shell to be removed unless it is damaged
