Help with 4 speed
« on: December 14, 2010 - 09:42:56 PM »
Guys,
I am looking for help from someone who knows a-833 transmissions well.  This is where I am at.  I had purchased a trans sight unseen and was disappointed to find out it was a 1964-65.  Thinking it was a late 60's B-body trans, I purchased a used b-e tail shaft housing to do the swap.  Now I found another trans but I want to make sure I don't make anymore mistakes.  With money being so tight right now, well you get the picture.  What are the things I should look for?  I don't want to get stuck with a late model overdrive trans.  Also, is there any difference in the four speed shifters?  I have a few of them.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

there are differences in the shifters, it is all in the legs that connect to the shifter rods. im sure someone has the part numbers for you. As for the tranny, the only way i can say to look for an OD vs reg is the bearing retainer size.

Bout the easiest way would be to snap a pic of what your thinking and post it here..That way, you sure to get the correct tranny as we would need to see what you see...

Why don't you call the 4 speed expert instead of asking us idiots?

Check out this link to the Slant 6 Forum, the trans are the same for the V8's and it has most info that you will need. Plenty of good info can be obtained on this board and we are not all idiots.

Check out Brewers Performance as well.

Thanks guys.  Aussie Challenger, that link was just what I needed to see.  I hope the "idiot" remark was a joke.  I think all the members here on this site deserve a little respect.

There's no such thing as a "one guy knows all" anywhere...Plenty to be learned from lots of people and Brewer's Performance knows just as much, if not more than Passion Performance.....As for the "idiot" response, I like to think it was a poor choice of words, as some of the guys on here have gone WAY out of their way to help me with issues dealing with Mopars and I've been messin' with 'em since 1988....

When I saw the "idiot" comment I didn't like it, as has been said too many members have gone out of their way to help others in need and that is what this forum is noted for.
