I have owned a 1970 Super Bee for 20 years now but I am just about to become a brand new E-body owner.
In a few days, I am picking up a 70 Challenger R/T 383 4 speed. I'm so jazzed I can hardly sleep! I've always wanted one next to my Bee.
I spent hours inspecting every inch of the car to be sure of what I'm buying. This car is all numbers matching. There is not a single speck of rust on it either. The down side is there was some old front end damage that has never been repaired correctly. I will have to remove and redo the radiator support and replace warped inner fender walls. The cowl has some minor damage but a sheet metal guy I brought with me thought it shouldn't be too bad. The drive train was all redone, brakes redone, suspension redone. Just needs cosmetics.
The car is Go Mango with a vinyl top (removed yrs ago when it went into storage).
The bummer on this car is someone tossed the fender tag when they bolted on new fenders. The carpet is original but what are the chances I will find the build sheet? From reading other posts, I guess the LA built cars did not usually have build sheets?
As I am new to E-bodies, I would sure appreciate any advice on the car. I want to take my time and do it right. I'd like to keep it forever.
Also, does anyone know how I can learn more about the build date? The serial number on the car is 100750 which suggests it was a fairly early car?
Thanks in advance for the replys.
