Well today I got the passenger side inner tubs done, trunk floor drop in, everything lined up very very nice. (after a TON of tweeking lol). The 1/4 panels are now both cut and temperary fitted into place prepped for welding.

I have to remove the 1/4's again to do some final welding and patching on the inside and then prime/paint the inside of the car behind the 1/4 panel as there is no hope in hell of me getting primer/paint in there after the 1/4 panels are welded back on.

Timline for the car.
I have 6 hours of welding left maybe 8 but thats it. At that point the challenger is 100% back together body wise.
At least 4 hours of grinding left of all the welds etc...

Then the car is ready for the body filler. That will be a bit of a project on its own as I plan to use some new techniques which I normally don't worry about. (spray on body filler, this car is going to be STRAIGHT!, more details on this when I get to that point)

Final Choices:
Color: WA418P Atomic Orange with Rallye Black side stripes and Black Hood Blackout (with HEMI) cut out of the black on each side.
Engine: GEN III 6.1L HEMI Which DAVE from Rosevillemoparts.com helped us pick out.
Tranny: 727 with 1800 - 2300 Stall built up to handle the power.
Rear End: 3:23 for now will be looking at taller gears maybe, but I dont see the need for them.

Pics for the car are coming right away, just waiting for the email to get here.

Any chance you could post pics of your rear valance panel that bolts up to those sections? I think the one I have has been destroyed by the last guys who "fixed" this car because there is no mounting that I can see on the rear valance. Might be im just missing something but Im not sure since it was removed off the car by someone else.

Today I finished up all the welding for the passenger side wheel tub and rear floor drop. Sat = day off for my bday and back at it sunday.

Sunday I plan to grind down the welds I just put in, take off the driver side 1/4 and then I will be priming and putting some actual base/clear on the inside of the structure to seal it all up.

So today... no pictures worth posting that already are not in the previous post. SUNDAY though will yield some actual COLOR on the car :D. Then I will most likely set the 1/4's back on and begin the final welding stage.

Just a suggestion to consider:

You might want to spray undercoating on the inside of the skin before you apply it on.
I put Rust Bullet on the outer extension skirts also. It preps for paint easier than POR-15.

Looking good.  :2thumbs:

Just a quick update here. I just got the phone call, the customer likes it so much I am now converting it to a non vinyl roof. Straight hard top and good choice in my opinion!

Ok here is a question.

The 74 AMX I did in 09 has color matching rims. I REALLY like the style of it, steel rims with center caps and chrome lip rim.

Here is a couple of pics of different challengers with the different steel rims. Anyone have any details on them and if they are still available to get my hands on?

What I think is closest.

Here are some with color coded rims but no outer chrome dish.

The silver wheels on the orange car are Rallye wheels & are reproduced and available but were never body color.

The body color steel wheels have what are referred to as Dog-Dish hub caps, the caps are reproduced, not sure about the wheels
