Shaker Hood - Trim Mounting Screws???
« on: December 26, 2010 - 01:26:22 PM »
Hey ...... can anyone tell me if the mounting washers and nuts that hold the trim onto the hood are supposed to be body color or left natural / metal??  Only seen when the hood is up.

I have seen both versions and was wondering which is correct?

Thanks .... CHAPS

Not sure how they were after they were installed, but I have a NOS set of washers and they are satin black on one side, and natural metal on the other.

Don't take this as gospol but I believe the ring was installed and painted together. So the nuts were painted. I should have some pictures to verify this on my other computor. I'll check and see and get back about it.

I painted the trim ring off the hood, the homework that I did show me that the nuts  were not painted.Do not tighten the nuts to hard, because you can turn the stud.IMO the nuts look better not painted.

I just looked closely on some of the pictures of the survivor and professional restos of
Wade Ogles collection that was at Ohlone this past Summer. It shows the nuts and studs painted for the Shaker trim ring.
