Tag Review
« on: December 28, 2010 - 01:45:36 PM »
Hello all,  I am curious as to opinions on this tag.

Too me it looks almost too perfect.  Is it a repro?  Most of the tags I have scene always seem to be a weathered and have chips or dings and show their age.

I am interested in this 70 FC7 JS23N car.  The most obvious issue I saw was that it has a 440 in it, but it seems to be fairly close to stock looking.  Other than that I really like it.

Can anyone else identify any other issues I should look out for?

Thanks,

The switch bezel is not correct for 70,that would make me think the rallye gauges were added. The gauge cluster is correct but not the switch bezel.

Cool!  Thanks for the tip!   That is the sort of info I wanna learn.  What are the differences between the dashs because to me they all look so similar other than the standard dash vs. rallye.

The 70-71 switch bezel does not have that picture of the wiper next to the switch, that was on the 72-74.

seats appear to be 73 to 74 style,,no plastic backs on bucket seats,,and passenger side of rear bumper is very crooked,,and if i read the vin right i think its suppose to be a 383 but i good be wrong,,and i think its suppose to have a manual mirror on the drivers side not a remote,,but i am not that good at fender tag decoding  but i think G31   Right Hand Outside Mirror - Manual / Chrome
G33   Left Hand Outside Mirror - Manual / Chrome ,,but i could be wrong i know that others on here are much better at decoding than me and am sure they will chime in and tell you the right codes

fender tag is a fake

It did look too clean to be true.  But why would they keep the code for a 383 if they put a 440 in it?  I mean why not code it for a 440?

I still think it is decent looking ride though.

Couldn't say for sure, but one thing liars depends on is the idea that if something is partially but verifiably true, huamn nature is to believe the rest.

the vin tag shows it as a 383 so the fake fender tag reflects that,,they had to match the vin number to try and make the fender tag look real,,part of the lie and it looks like it was throwed together with different models,,those seats are completely wrong and the drivers side is missing parts, and the dash appears to have a plastic cover or something,in the picture with the vin tag showing you can see the cut edges,i wouldnt go near that car,,there's no telling what you cant see and there complete liars

The seats are 73..........the dash pad is covered by a dash CAP.  The carchex report also shows a lot of other stuff that really isn't clean and as it should be........Not a bad 10 footer but........not real either..........

Yeah i am seeing that now.  I did not even know about carchex.  Is that a separate service that you pay?  The dash is real obvious now.  I wonder if its a true R/T to begin with now...

Has anyone else even dealt with this dealer?  Are they known for this type of shenanigans?

The body and vin numbers match.  So the fender tag I guess doesnt matter right?   I made the post about people converting their cars over to something else isn't illegal, just makes it harder and harder to find what is actually what a car really is.  Once you get past all the red flags, you can actually make a decision about to purchase or not.  i hope people have given up trying to buy a car as an investment for resale or retirement.  Many a snake out there now adays.
