BB Points Dist. to Electronic, using SB parts.
« on: January 01, 2011 - 06:03:42 PM »
Gentlemen, I believe I have successfully converted a BB POINTS distributor to electronic using SB parts...

No pics as of yet, but I first removed the little PITA clip inside under the rotor button to remove the top section, then removed everything...
Then, I simply transfered  the Electronic Advance "plate" to the BB points mounting plate that bolts to the housing.
Then, I installed the top section from the SB distributor into the BB distributor and reinstalled the vaccum advance unit for the BB...
I used the BB points weights and the SB top section with the advance slots in it...The BB Distributor still retains it's old tag with part number for points distributor....

I wonder have any of you guys attempted this and if so, how did it do? I think it'll work...

Was the BB distributor a cast iron Prestolite or the newer aluminum design?

I discovered this little trick years ago. just make sure that you put your pin through the reluctor's correct hole for the direction of rotation.

Always converted my 70 and 71s to electronic right away.
