Scenario...I have access to a complete 440 motor.  If I were to get a hemi block, complete heads, and intake......what other parts (if any) could be swapped from the 440 to 426 to start the motor build.   Crank? water pump? balancer?  Any help would be appreciated.  thanks!

About the only parts that aren't "Hemi specific" would be the water closet/pump, timing cover, and oil pan, but the "Hemi" oil pan was deeper I think (7 qts?)...You COULD swap in the 440 crank,(PROVIDING IT'S A STEEL CRANK, and NOT cast) as long as you don't have a problem with a Hemi with a 6 bolt crank in it then...(Hemi crank was the same cept it had 8 bolts holding the flywheel/flex plate on)..Also, the 440 balancer could be run on the 440 crank, but those heavy "Hemi rods" would require a RE balance of the lower end..

Oil Pan was 6 qts capacity plus 1 in the filter = 7 qts

Also can use the oil pump and/or parts.

I was wondering that since the new hemi crate motors use the thin 1" balancer, could you use the front end pulleys off a B/RB motor as well? ( if using the steel crank 440 balancer) Easy swap over? That is my first question....

Secondly, if you had an original 8-bolt flange 426 crank, could you still use the 440 balancer or will it be to light?

I am a newbie and swapping a 440 with a Hemi also,  Is there any additional support needed as the Hemi is heavier?

Not really but adding support helps all E bodys
 You can weld & gusset the K frame add a lower rad support crossmember  , install better braces between the firewall & inner fender inside the wheelwell area , add torque boxes under the door hinge area & the rear spring mount  . You can also upgrade the suspension with larger T bars much large sway bars preferably hollow from Hotchkiss & plate the lower control arms . Every upgrade will help
 BTW the Dist will also swap between HEMI & 440

The Hemi K member is unique in design and I would recommend using it over trying to swap it in using conversion mounts onto the 440 K member.

Can you tell us more about the 440 block like the raised letter area?

I might just take it off your hands if it's a standard bore or close to it.
