Flexible Transmission lines.

I would like to replace the factory transmission line with a flexible line so I can route it away from the headers.  I prefer one of the newer type of hoses rather than a steel braided line.  What would you recommend and is a -4 the correct size? Also, I'm going to need fittings for the radiator and to screw into the transmission (what size fitting??).

Factory steel is 5/16 with OD tranny's using 3/8.  -4 is roughly a 1/4" IIRC, so I'd look at either -5 or -6

Yes brock (?) is right on the sizes. Hydraulic ( I believe) is measured in 1/16 increments  ie -6 = 3/8/ -8 = 1/2 and so on. Teflon lines are available but keep in mind that without the armor or protection of a solid line or steel braiding, you do run the risk of damage if something were to hit the line.

I ordered 3/8" steel lines for my 518...that's the furthest from stock that I've gone on that.

When I got my car my cooler lines were actually touching the headers so I re-routed them in 8mm copper tube and I took it along the frame rail well away from the exhaust.  New copper tube bends easily.

The tricky bit was getting some flexible sections over to the box in/outlets.  The stock lines move with the engine/box and can twist some at the front so they can be solid with no problems.  If they run along the body then the way the box moves with the engine makes it essential to have flexible sections across to the box.

I used some flexible lengths I cut off a Jeep attached with jubilee clips, there's not much pressure in them.
