73 and up B-Body LCA'S need a measurement?
« on: January 07, 2011 - 10:54:30 PM »
I was just reading through the April 2011 issue of Mopar Action and they have an interesting article of using 73 and up to? B-Body LCA's . They say it gives more suspension travel. Firm feel has a kit they say?  I have a buddy that uses them on his 71 Charger circle track car but says they add "about" an inch per side to the track width.
Anyone have a set to measure for me? So I can compare it to an E-Body LCA?
Thanks Brad

They are massive. I don't have any arms any more, but I believe I have a set of ARE bracing plates. If I can dig them up this weekend, I'll post a pic of the size difference between those and the standard plate.

Although I have to admit, I dont' use all the travel on my stock arms. Don't see any value in increasing travel capability as a sole goal, unless it comes along with a few other benefits.

Ya I agree . In my set up I have never ( that I know of) been into the bump stops anyhow. I was just putting it out there for people that want to really lower there cars. It's my understanding they are U shaped or bannana shaped somewhat and allow more suspension travel when the car is drastically lowered. ( IE. race car)
When you say "massive" what do you mean by that? Length? overall size/weight?

Yes, they are somewhat banana shaped, but so are the regular ABE arms, The late B arms are not as tall compared to ABE arms, so the curve apears more pronounced.

Over all, I'd say they are probably an inch longer, but the layout makes them look bigger and combined with their flatter layout and increased width, they "look" huge.

I don't have any late B plates left anymore, so I pulled these from the ARE website. This is the regular ABE body brace plate that is about 10" long, 3" wide.

This is the late B plate that mounts up in the same manner. IIRC, it was over a foot long, possible 13". The narrow end is comparable to the early style plate attached above.
