I'm actually getting the odd mosquito in the house? :faint:   Can't figure that one out?  Like where the heck are they coming from????
I am in South Florida.  We are having a mild winter here also.  We need it to get below freezing at least for 4 hours a year.  If it does not the insect population is not controlled.  It makes for a rough summer with mosquitos, fleas, flies, you name it.  If it does not get colder, you that live up north may experience the lack of insect control by the temperatures also.

After a mild winter a decade ago in Washougal where I lived. I had a bug zapper on the back covered porch that was going constant. There was a pile of dead bugs about 8 inches high under the zapper by the end of summer. Around that time up the road in Skamania they were airing a story about a dog that had been bitten so many times by the sqiuto's it was almost life threatening.

Got Snow?  Yes, I have snow.  A few days ago I posted some sunrise pictures of Mt. Rainier and was kind of gloating about the temperate climate we have here in the Great Northwest.  Well, that was a few days ago and this in now.  The Challenger ain't goin nowhere today for sure!  Here are some pictures of my deck from whence I took the sunrise pictures. Cannot begin to see the mountain.  It has gotten over two feet of snow in the last 36 hours at Snoqalmie Pass (I-90).  Here in Olympia we have about 18", total for two days.  I'll bet GranClluda1970 from Washougal has more than that.  It's beautiful but needs to go away.  PK

Still got snow but now an added bonus of freezing rain on top of it!  Five inches of snow for an average annual is probably about right.  With 20 inches yesterday we are good for the next 4 years!  There are a lot of years when we don't get snow and usually when we get it it's gone within two or three days.  With global cooling this seems to be changing.  We have a warming trend starting about midday so this stuff will be short lived.  Fortunately the ground is not frozen under the snow so that will speed up the thawing.  PK

No snow this winter in eastern Virginia. This time last year we already had several snow storms. I can do without the cold & snow and most folks around here don't know how to drive in it. It's pretty to look at but with heating oil at $3.70/gallon, I say cold/cold go away. It will cost just over $2,000 bucks to fill my 550 gallon in-ground heating oil tank. That's just nuckin' futz!!  :22yikes: A lot of elderly living on fixed incomes just can't afford to heat their homes anymore. I rely on my tax return now to fill my tank. It used to be used for a summer vacation...not anymore! But there's plenty of awesome fishing & hunting right here!
