It was snowing in the Sierras over the last 2 week ends. In fact there is so much snow this year, that they are doing avalanche control at Tiogas Pass in Yosemite today. That road might never get open this year.

Well, you heat up the planet with all of the human produced carbon emmissions which then causes the glaciers to melt and allows for more evaporation of water and then guess what---- it snows & rains more!  Have any of you looked at the pictures taken 100 years ago in Glacier National Park in Montana----- all of the glaciers are either completely gone or no more than 1/10th of what they once were.   Pleased don't get sucked into thinking (for our own personal justification) that the billions of people now on this earth are not having a negative impact on the environment.

Proven Horsehunch!!! Remember Climategate it came before Weinergate. We have had adverse weather pattern cycles for hundreds of years The war of 1812 British invasion force down south got clobbered by a  Katrina sized Hurrican that almost totaly wiped them out. Not to mention there was a global cooling cycle that left the winter one of the harshest America and europe had to suffer through around the time of the American revolution..All Global warming is ... a tool to try and control business, create regulation to control people and money if you believe otherwise your just not looking hard enough. Hell Libs thought we were all gonna be dead by now back in the 70's from global cooling and overpopulation just keep screaming until something sticks I guess.

It would be cool to see some pics of Glacier Nat'l Park at the end of the ice age..... before there were coal fired power plants.  :2cents:

Niagra Falls froze in 1911.

I'm ready for summer to end.  The A/C broke and it was 97* in the house all day.  Might get down to 80* tonight.

Pleased don't get sucked into thinking (for our own personal justification) that the billions of people now on this earth are not having a negative impact on the environment.
We are definitely having an impact on the earth. We alter it for our own ends more than any other species. The debatable part is how much we are making it deviate from a course it would have taken without our influence. It's tough to determine. I've watched science programs that suggest the earth has gone from tropical to ice age four times. So I guess the world will heat up and cool down regardless. We may be speeding up, or slowing down the cycle though.
I believe we should do what we can to reduce the pollution we create, recycle where we can and try to be responsible in our actions. After that, we'll see how it goes. I'm not against a little more heat in my area of the world though...

Scientists have said that Amphibians are the "Canary in the Coal mine" as far as the world health is concened. That they are dissappearing at an alarming rate in every country in the World. Even in remote regions they are dissappearing. So it goes that they blame climate change that is doing it.

So are we to blame? They never dissappeared like they are now.

seems like everytime a global warmer pops up in any of the many car sites I participate in, they get outnumbered big time.
I guess most "car people" do not buy it.
 :stirpot:

anyways...weather changes...always has and always will.
IMO whether humans make a few tenths of a degree difference over the long run isnt in my mind worth reverting civilization to the 14th century. I just hope we dont destroy ourselves with the weapons we have or will be inventing in years to come. That is FAR more of a concern to me. But...if that does happen, nature will bounce back in a few hundred or a few thousand years (not even a drop in the bucket of earths history) as if we had never been here.

Hope the weather is more enjoyable today than when this thread started, and all the e bodies are out and about

while the northern ice pack is melting what most people miss is the southern ice pack is actually growing so maybe global warming is only in the northern hemisphere !!

That's not entirely true, I'd guess a few bit the dust when the dinousaurs did too?  Really how do we know? We only have been studying this for what maybe 100 years at best? So who know what else has gone? IMO it's all "in the plan" a natural condition and too many people have gotten rich and gained power exploiting the" chicken little" theories.
