throttle cable question
« on: January 09, 2011 - 06:56:52 PM »
Hello! I have a challenger with a 360 with a 4 speed. It has a edelbrock performer intake with an edelbrock 650 4 barrel carb. My car used to have a 318 with a stock intake and 2 barrel carb. Does anyone know if I can use the same throttle cable? Does anyone have a pic of of the same set up as I currently have with the edelbrock set up? I will get pics tomorrow.

If nothing else you can make an extension to bolt onto the existing cable.
I've seen some from flat pieces of aluminum with a pin or small bolt attached to the oe cable.

I'm guessing it will fit.  The center of the carb should be the same distance from the firewall.  I just hooked up accelerator linkage to my 440  with Thermoquad and found that the cable used on my 340 was too long.  The carb on the 440 sits closer to the firewall than when it was on the 340.  Small block to small block should stay the same.  PK

Mancini has adjustable throttle cable brakets to allow for different intake & carb set ups as well

You have to make an extension to use the stock cable. I switched my 318 over to a 4 barrel and found that the cable is about an inch or so too short. Also, you'll have to make some changes to the throttle bracket. I think I posted what I did with mine on here when I did the swap, I'll see if I can find the pics.
