Sound Deadner

Does anyone have a picture of sound deadener that they put on the ceiling of their car (Challenger)? I'm just trying to make sure that I don't put any where it will interfere with the headliner, Bows, light or seat belt clips.

You can put insulation on the roof skin but not on the inner braces.  The dome light wiring clips onto the center brace...the light itself screws to the same brace.

What about the b-pillar area?

Nothing was there from the factory.  Earlier cars used sail boards in that area so there is room for some thin DynaMat type stuff if you want to put something there.  Your 73 didn't use a sail board though.  It's up to you.  The dome light wiring does run into that area so you'd have to leave a spot open to run that.

no photos but I just put mine on the roof between the braces. 

On the sail pillars I didn't put any in but I did close them off from the trunk area using expanding foam.  I figured that a lot of noise comes in from the trunk area and rather than treat that whole area I decided to just isolate it from the passenger area.  In addition to closing off the sail panel voids I also stuck some fibre board in behind the rear seat back and applied sound deadener across that whole area and along the speaker shelf.  It worked pretty good.

I put 2 layers of that carpet padding that looks like multi-colored shredded padding glued back together over my headliner. Once the headliner is stretched tight, you dont see anything. Helps keep the car cool with the A/C on.

'Second Skin' sells stuff for the entire interior.  Think they have something you can use on the roof panel.  You might want to check them out at secondskinaudio.com

I used this foil backed jute padding I found on JC Whitney.  Used 3m spray adhesive to attach to the ceiling.  It did not interfere with the bows or headliner.
