Am I being too critical?
« on: November 27, 2004 - 10:22:35 PM »
Ok,

I paid $1200 for these repo rear window louvers, guy is very nice and said when I bought them I could send them back if not happy.  He says he's made couple hundred of these over the last 15 years with no complaints.

Well I'm not happy, I feel the spacing on the 2nd panel is "way" off.  Look at the edges, looks to me like it was cut too short, doesn't have the same bend/curve as the others.

for comparison included is a picture he uses when selling them on ebay.

Too critical?

No you're not.  I would not be happy with the quality of those louvers if I had paid $250.  I say send 'em back.  Great looking car btw.

I've seen these on E-Bay before. I never bid since that price is steep, but I would definitely expect something like he show's in his picture. His look great, your's not so :bs: Maybe he had a few of these  :wasted: the day he made yours. Send them back.

Thanks for the replies, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being a jerk.  I doubt he'll give me any trouble, he sounds super nice and I'm sure it won't be a problem.  From what I can tell doing research the guy does pretty good work!

He's the same guy that repo's the shaker hood set-ups.  I contacted 3 people who had bought these from him on ebay before I did, they all said they were very happy, one guy bought 2!

I've been looking for these for 5 years, don't mind paying fair price, just not happy with the way these look.  :(

Why dont you ask him to make you another set....maybe he just had a bad day? If other people are happy with his work, and you want a set of these...it might be worth the try. As long as you get him to give you the same "no hassle return" as these, it can't hurt.

When I looked at the first picture, I thought...they look pretty good, I don't see a problem.  Then, I realized your's was the second picture.  Eeeeewww!  Sorry man, you're not too critical -- they are way off!

The material he used on your set doesn't look stiff enough to hold the correct shape, like on the ebay pic.  I'd send 'em back.

2nd and 4th are wrong on the ends and middle bows up. 1st middle bows down. example pic has frame running around whole thing, and also connector at bottom so you can lift up to clean window.

definately send em back for that
