Plug wires and headers
« on: January 26, 2011 - 04:33:34 PM »
Anybody have good ideas on routing plug wires over, around or under a 440 with Hooker headers. Just wondering the best way and what to use without burning wires.

for the most part, I go 90 degree boots and under the headers myself on a big block, bring them up front and hook them up. I use seperators to keep things in place

That's how I have mine too. I saw Moroso selling a plug wire for header kit. They are set up to go over the valve covers.

I used wire looms to help me. I got them from Summit.

I really dig the way you have your wires routed MEK. :2thumbs:  Couple questions and I think I even asked you before??  What kind of wires do you have?  What do you have around the wires?

The wires are made by Accel. They are braided. I see Taylor makes them too.

Nice lay out MEK, looking at the pic though it looks like the alternator pulley is very small? Do you run it that way for extra out put at slower speeds?

To tell you the truth, I never noticed that.   :banghead:  I have no trouble with lights dimming at a red light, maybe that's why.     I'll have to pay attention the next time I go to a car show.

Just wondering as usually a high reving engine usually has a slightly larger pulley to stop the alternator from exploding, a bit drastic explanation but I have seen it happen.

I typically use the vari angle boots on the wires , they are straight but can be bent to allow extra clearance around headers
