My daughter and her friends are stuck at the bowling alley right now with a dead battery. Her boyfriend is using my truck to deliver pizza since his truck is in the shop and I am stuck at home without a ride. :banghead:  Two different people could not jump the car the first guy in a Chrysler 300 actually had to break out the manual for this massive operation! My daughter said he barely knew how to open the hood! Then could not find the ground terminal for the battery.Same story for the next contestant can`t find the ground. :clueless: Has there been some new development in battery tecnology that I missed where car batteries no longer have a ground terminal?Neither one of these guys knew enough to put the ground cable onto some bare metal on the car.The third guy (who my daughter said acted like an A-hole) finally knew how to jump the car and she is home now. :) So at least the A-hole guy did it and I would like to say thank you Mr. A-hole where-ever you are and thank you all for letting me vent!

This is what happens to a generation that grew up with free porn and anything else you can think of at their fingertips.
All that information and they can barely dress themselves  :eek4:

Many, (not all) of the youngins, (not that I'm that old) I talk to now a days, I just want to give a good slap to.
Lazy   clueless  :clueless: fools to be perfectly honest.
At 15 I was pulling motors.

 I feel your frustration dude.
The present state of the world makes me sad   :walkaway:

To end on a positive note though, there are a few I know that at 15 can weld their @ss off and can tear apart a Mopar with the best of them

It's really sad how unskilled so many of the kids are these days.  They're experts at blasting bad-guys on graphic computer games and social network garbage, but don't know what end of a screw-driver to use.  :grinno:  Skilled professions like plumbers, carpenters, electricians and auto mechanics will clean up in the future.  :grinyes:

:iagree: with R/T hedkace. No interest in knowing how to do anything. I asked my son if he wanted to build a 'Cuda or Challenger together and he could have it when we are done......he didn't want to....too much work.. :banghead: :swear: :banghead: :swear: :banghead:

If it involves having to go outside anymore its too much work for them  ::) This is the most lazyest disrespectful generation ever. I know i lived outside when i was young learning and doing something all the time. I work with a lady who has four daughters and all are either married or have boyfriends and not one of those men in any of thier lives know how to check or change oil in a car let alone even know how to work on one  ;D But so far they're all good at making babies though  :pullinghair:

Not to rain on your guy's generation bashing parade, but it's not just a generational thing.  ;D

My motorcycle's battery left me stuck at a gas station awhile back. I think I asked at least a dozen people or more before I even found someone that had a set of jumper cables. Finally a guy in one of those Honda suv's said he thought he had jumper cables. Points for him, he knew he had jumper cables in his roadside kit. But he had to look for the compartment it was in, and after opening up the jumper cables (still
in the packaging!), he asked me what side his battery was on :screwy:. Needless to say I hooked up the cables.  ;D

And to get to the generational point of the story, I would guess the guy was in his mid forties, probably a good 15 years older than me. Now, since the original Atari came out when I was like 5, I'm guessing he didn't grow up playing video games 24/7. :grinno:

Did you show her how to jump it when she got home so she can show them how to jump a car the right way? That way they do not blow up your battery. My kids have kids now and are gone but they could jump a car when they were in there teen. Looks like your kids need a set of cables of thier own and a lesson in use. They need to teach them in drives ed how it is done again.

It really is sad that parents aren't able to help their kids anymore learn life skills, some don't even know how to change a light bulb, all they know is how to text messages or pic's on their latest i phone, they cannot hear anyone because of the ear phones jammed in their ears and volume up way too high.   :22yikes:
I will still stop and help someone broken down on the side of the road but if it is a man I encourage him to do the work.   :clapping:

:chatting:  These new generation text messaging kids live in a virtual world where nothing is real.    :chatting:

Good grief....they probably don't even know how to tie a shoe lace because everything has zippers or velcro.

Funny you say that...most teens around here don't tie up their laces. Apparently it's cool not to. ???

It's just as much the parents fault as the kids...How many here were taught BEFORE they were able to drive about how you change your oil, change a tire, etc.?

Today, the parents afre to busy making that first million, and the kids are treated more like baby dolls that are only brought out when it's "convienent"...
A nd this country wonders why we have kids shooting up schools and such....Reap what we sew...MY kids know how to change tires, oil, jump start cars, etc..

:iagree:  It does have to do with parents. If it wasn't for my Dad I don't think I would of had as much interest in cars as I do. He didn't know alot but enough to maintain his cars and I was right there with him as a kid helping out and asking a million annoying questions. On the other side of that, back when I was a kid and alot of you folks you could fix just about anything on a car with a nice basic tool set. Not so much anymore. The basics of how a car works still apply but it's just not as simple anymore.  So going under the hood to do something as simple as changing a starter is a pita.... Northstar motor or Late model Toyota v8's anyone?  And oh goody, GM cars with the battery under the rear seat. Chryslers with a battery in the front left fender and some in the trunk. Yep they put lugs to jump a car but to some person that only knows some small idea that you jump a car from the battery is gonna be a bit lost.  And remember when you bring your PC to the GeekSquad becase you don't know how to defrag your hardrive or change the ram or add a video card ect. They are on their forums typing on how much we are newbs also.

Yes she does know how to jump start a car but didn`t know about just putting the ground to some metal on the car hopefully she knows don`t pick the fan for the ground might be time for a refresher course on this.I will have to get her one of those roadside kits thats was my fault, but she does have jumper cables now! The first guy gave them to her probably wouldn`t have done him any good  anyway he had no clue how to use em! :grinyes:
