Was working on the engine,,,  it popped into reverse and hit a post on the lower end of the open driver door.  :(
Smashed it pretty good.  Had help beating it out so it closed okay...  another thing for the list.

I took these pictures when it happened.  I was at my friend's shop and he pounded it out and hit it with some primer so it looks okay.  You don't really notice it unless you look cause the car doesn't have a nice paint job.

The last picture I took today.

It's hard to see but the door is rippled from the bottom up for about a foot and from the back edge toward the front for about 5 or 6 inches.  So it's not a big area but it's really rough and I want to fix it before considering painting the car.

I guess I can try getting it down to metal and pound it out some more.

That is a real pain of an area too, it may be best to remove the skin from the door frame to repair it and then refit the skin back on once all the repairs are made to both areas, the trouble is that both the skin and frame when damaged are working against each other when trying to repair, that is why i say remove the skin before repair will end up with a better job. I hope your buddy can help you out when you need it fixed properly Alan :2thumbs:

Sounds like the right way to do it.  I have a few other things to do with the car before a trip to Mopars at the strip in April... then I'll focus on what I want to do with the door.

I replaced my external fuel pump with an Edelbrock EFI fuel sump (kit# 3607). 

I wish I’d had this a year ago when I put the FAST EZ EFI v1 system in.  I didn’t want to cut up my fuel tank so I put the external Walbro pump in.  It sat just in front of the fuel tank and whinned enough when it was on to be a nuisance. 

The Edelbrock system is cool and easy to install.  It uses the standard mechanical pump to feed its reservoir and pushes 49 psi (you can get one with higher pressure) to the EFI system by a pump submerged in the sump.  It should eliminate any cut outs due to fuel sloshing around in the tank and keep the pump cooler.

The Fish has better throttle response…  The old setup was set at 43 psi so it seems to like 49 psi.  I’ve only had it a day, but drove it pretty hard and it’s been flawless so far. :burnout:

It is... kinda...  if you factor in the alternative cost of the pump, filter, the freaking AN6 fittings... also any cost to build it into your existing fuel tank (with baffles)...  it's not THAT bad.  It just sucks that I bought a bunch of those things separately last year and realized it wasn't the way to go soon after...

I beat on it pretty hard yesterday and so far no issues at all.  It's great to be rid of the constant whine of the old pump.

So far it's been a great addition...  be sure to install it as far forward as you can without hitting the radiator...  reason...  I installed a 120 AMP Nippondenso alternator and needed all the room I could get!  :)

Last summer I drove the Fish in a rainstorm...  I found out the hard way that I had holes in the trunk.  I thought they were just a few misc bolt holes that needed to be plugged, but found a problem in the left rear wheel well.

I'm really worried about hitting rain while going to MATS so I needed a quick fix.

Here is the problem area and a picture of light coming through from the trunk. 




I'm not a metal worker so I thought I'd fill the gap until such time I can get it fixed properly.

I used paper & cardboard coated with vaseline (so the filler won't stick) and taped it to the gap in the wheel well to make a form.




I did the same from the trunk side and used the cloth to hold it in place.




Sprayed the filler and sealed the gap. 




The next day the filler lost its mind.


Job done for now.
