    Received my louvers from Dale's Cuda Shop!

    Really happy with the sturdy construction of this piece... thick metal and strong...  thank goodness I went this way vs. the cheapie plastic one I was looking at.



    Test fit...  real install some time in the new year...

    Fits pretty good I must say.  Don't know how it compares to OE, but heck, it works and no one except an expert would know it's not OEM.

    Of course it won't look OEM w/o a vinyl roof, but looks better w/o one.

    On the test fit there is some separation on the sides but nothing that detracts from the look.  I'll document what comes of it on theinstall.
    BTW - there is a guy on Youtube with a series of videos on restoring his '73 Cuda.  One of the videos is a step by step install of these louvers.  Really good information.

    Why wouldn't you use riv-nuts for the louver vs the method shown in the video?

    The factory used threaded rivets in the roof to mount the hinges. Are you going to do that?  It looks great btw. I installed a set on my car. Let me know if you need pointers.

    I ended up installing the louvers on Friday.  Quick / easy install... actually took longer to get the dang stickers off the glass from my trips to MATS.
    I used the sheet metal screws in the kit (vs. the bolts also in the kit) so I wouldn't have to mess with the headliner.

    Is that the car from your website picture?  I love that car.  Makes me want to install a vinyl roof.  Looks great!

    Just read through a good part of your thread.
    X2 on a previous statement about getting out and driving it.
    Tore into my Challenger for some slight mods expecting it to be only 1-2 months. 11 months later... 2 weeks ago I finally got to drive it again.
    Also nice setup on the louvers.  :cheers:

    Now reading that you have been to the Spring Thing I recall seeing your car there. Only as a visitor for past years but plan on finally having my car there for this year. I live on SoCal Oc.

    Thanks Mike.   Yep, I’m usually at the Spring Fling helping people park their e-bodys…  Hopefully that will be you too this year.  Are you going to MATS in Vegas end of March?

    As for the Fish, I can’t say that evolution was part of a grand design…  more of a general idea to be setup for a Power Tour some day…  but I’ve always wanted to keep it drivable as much as possible.

    The near future holds part two on the AAR hood, replacement of my cracked header (maybe shortys?), reintroducing A/C in the car, setting up a mount for a tablet to run GPS/Nav, Audio, etc.   

    Paint?  Who knows…

    Had a family mechanic weekend last week with my Dad, Brother and youngest Son pitching in…
    1.   Installed new XV Engineering (Racing Products) seat belts


    2.   Completed phase two on the AAR hood resurrection
    adjustable bumper used to shape the hood to the fender (remember this hood was in BAD shape)

    3.   Trimmed and painted the fiber glass “4 barrel AAR” base... rubber weather strip is next...



       
    5.   Test fit the Sanden a/c compressor… will need to shorten the water hose to get it just right

    did you modify your 73 bumper brackets to raise and suck in your bumper to do away with the rubber filler??

    Also finally put the go-wing on the car.  I need to work on spacing the bolt supports between the upper and lower deck lid sheet metal a little differently.  I flattened out the top metal skin a bit.  Looks good though!

    ... I can feel the car squat at about 30 mph now...  ;)   ha!
