Hey all...  here are a couple shots of some rust I have on the inner door panel.  I want to remove it, seal it, etc.

There are a lot of different products in the Eastwood catalog but thought you guys would know what really works and what's the best way to use them.   What has worked for you guys on your door panels?

looking down thru the window slot...

Thanks

Alan

I dont know what eastwood has off hand I use RUST-MORT to convert the rust, then there is a rust wax (I will try and get the actual name of it, I have to wait until the distributor here is open to find out and that is not until monday) that you spray in the doors, frame rails, rockers and where ever that stuff is rust cant start. Those are the 2 items I have used and they have worked 100% everytime, I have used it on a hundreds of vehicles.

There fixed it for you, you cannot post a URL in the IMG feild. That would be a link not an image.

Ooops...  I should have known better..  thanks.

Yes, would like to know what the other product is when you have a chance to get the name.

Much appreciated.

I know it’s not building parts from scratch or welding patches on to the body, but I really loathed the idea of install my driver’s door glass…    :-[

…after cleaning some parts (yes Charlotte there are a few clean parts on this car) I bit the bullet and installed the glass I bought from Bill (mopar12372).   :woo:

I have to tell ya, the man up stairs liked me today…  I found perfect bolts at just the right time in the pile I’ve built up over the years.   And there were more than a few times where I thanked the designer for giving me that quarter inch here and there that I needed to get to get stops, pads, etc. installed…

There were a number of glitches and restarts, but in the end…

THIS WAS A GOOD DAY!    :woohoo:

Now I can take the car some place and lock it up.

What is this rubber piece called and will it cost an arm and a leg to replace?    :clueless:

Thanks for the links.  I'll order some over the weekend.

I pulled apart the passenger side door glass and found a mess.  Now I have some parts to buy...

The front two rollers are shattered...  I think Roseville has them listed as part 723695...
http://www.rosevillemoparts.com/product_info.php/p/roller-w-screw/products_id/1984

Does anyone know the part number for the front plastic fastener used to attach the glass to the horizontal lifting guide?

Thanks!

Alan

Let me know too, I want to replace them on my project, 1 is busted and the other didnt break but it would  be best to replace both since we know the other is not far behind and I only want to do this once lol.

I did finally check my supplier for the rust proofing and the only thing I could get from them on the rust proofing wax is called rust proofing. I think she was a little too busy to go look it up for me. Best way to do it is to phone your local body shop supplier and ask for rust proofing spray, its black and has a wicked smell that most people dont like (Im so far the only one who seems to like the smell of ours, but Im old school and never used masks or gloves for most of my carreer and got used to many things that now we think is stupid to expose ourselves too. (I now use the gloves and masks, got a little (just a little) smarter over the past decade or so.

The rust proofing is not to be confused for a rust converter etc... its suppose to  be sprayed inside your doors, rockers, frame rails etc... where you dont want rust to show up after your restoration is done and you spray it once a year a so for good measure on areas exposed to moisture (frame rails and rockers, inner door panels, trunk floor to quarter panel drops, behind the front fender areas. Anywhere it is prone to rust on these models and your vehicle will last longer then you will.

right on al  :2thumbs:
the surface rust you have there could be taken care of with rust inhibitor . its a jelly that you can brush on and leave on and paint over it with rustoleum (how ever its spelled ) . in areas like that that i cant get to with out takeing half the car apart thats what i did  + unlike other people that live in ice cubes we dont have to really worry about it . you do have a ocean near you soo i would protect it with what i sugested . there are other ways and products to do this with though.

Rust Bullet also works well to encapsulate the rust.  A bit pricey but it does a good job.  Congrats on getting your window glass done.   :2thumbs:  I'm also dreading doing that when the time comes.  I rather rebuild the engine than tackle that job.

Hmmm...  what's the right way to get the remains of this roller off the arm it's attached to?

It's not threaded and it doesn't want to pull off.   :stomp:  What's the secret?   :swear:

Thanks
