Thanks HK...  I know the electrical needs cleanup, but it will do for now.

The bracket is about 6.5" by 1.5".  The holes are 4.25" apart center to center.
The hole that bolts on to the tranny is offset to fit the lip/contour on the top of that lug.

This actually looking at the bottom of the bracket.  Hope this helps.

Man you are getting me in trouble  :lol: Now that you have shown how it can be done fairly easily I will have to do this to my 73.

You can add me to the list of people who would be VERY interested in one of those crossmembers!! Or even the drawings for it, I could have it built here...

Hi all.  I decided to create a post for the swap in the Transmission section rather than add on to it here.  It's grown legs and I hope it helps someone out who may look for it in the future.

Been working on the smaller stuff... ;)

I'd like to figure out the darn fuel sender.  Bought a new one and it's just not working right...  also checked gauge to see if they actually work.  I noticed the ammeter had been bypassed and wanted to strip it and solder it.

Hmmm...  no ground strap...  I'll see what I can rig.  Started looking at pictures and I see what you guys are saying.   Will try it.  Thank you!

Scorpn, I tried to get a reading off the voltage limiter when I had the dash apart...  mine sits there and flashes which I guess is normal for the old type limiter.
I will look into doing a solid state one to remove that as a potential issue.  If you have a link to the article I'd be interested in seeing it.

I tested a makeshift ground strap for the fuel sender and it does read something now but it's a way off.  Will play with the float to see if I can adjust it.

Spent some time putting a fan shroud on the Cuda.   Found the shroud at U-Pick Parts off a Volare Wagon for $15.  I had to cut it a little get the radiator hose to fit.
It’s too long and fully covers the fan blade which I understand is not very efficient, but hopefully it will help.  It’s also not totally flush against the radiator, but it seems to draw air just fine sitting at idle.  If nothing else it makes my engine bay safer. 











Also moved my overflow tank to the inside wheel well.  It’s tucked away enough you don’t easily see it.   I’m considering moving the oil filter and that would make a good spot for it.

Gosh dang rusty bits!!

I decided to dive into pulling the front bumper in by simply (ha!) drilling out the square hole where the '72's used to mount their bumper.

Simple project turned into big freaking hassel.  The right outboard nut and bolt holding the bumper to the bracket is matted for life by rust
and won't free up with any manner of penetrating oil or elbow grease.

I took off the bottom "piece"... chin... ???  to get at the back of the bracket and took the bumper assemply out in one piece.

Then I found that the screw heads are all rusted away holding the filler strip between the bumper and the grille.  I bought a drill bit to extract the screws but ave not tried it yet. 
I worry that these are screwed into the plastic grill and need to be really careful.  I got some of them out by turning them from behind but it's hard to get a handle on them... :)


With all this apart I'm going to go ahead and repair and paint the grille too...
