New Dodge Cuda?
« on: January 30, 2011 - 10:08:02 PM »
I've heard rumors about a new Dodge 'Cuda coming out "soon", but that was almost a year ago now.  Is this concept car for real?  Does anyone have more info on it?

When I was at the NHRA drags in Vegas last year, there was a vendor there from Mr. Norms with a Cuda and some suped up Chally's and he said that they were not going to do the Cuda's because they were Plymouth.  But, who knows?

That's too bad--- that would have been one awesome car.

Has something changed in the last couple of months?  Last I heard there was a lot of scuttlebutt including some with 'insider' knowledge that this was beginning to look 'probable'.  And then there's stories like these:

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/21/chrysler-registers-cuda-nameplate-hemi-engine-perks-up-in-inter/

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/05/report-chrysler-seriously-considering-new-barracuda-w-poll/

There was also someone here with Chrysler contacts who also said that  a new Cuda was definitely being considered.  I'm almost hoping they don't do one, because if they do unless they really screw it up I'm going to have to have one...

I work for a Mopar Magazine and I talk to Chrysler insiders.  The only reason they re-upped the trademarked Cuda' name is because you need to when selling any merchandise.  If they wanna sell little 70 Cuda model kits, they need the name.  And they can have others pay them to use the name, from Hot Wheels to AMD.

It is as though GM went and trademarked Trans Am or Firebird.  They aren't going to make a new one, but they don't want others to have that name as well.
