« on: January 30, 2011 - 11:45:38 PM »
71 cuda plastic heater switch panel needs repainting.  I have the sem paint (did the console) but cannot find anyone local to paint the rectangular outline (seems to be silver on my piece)or the lettering (which is white).  Any ideas on who to contact? thanks

Put an ad in your local craigslist for anyone that paints models or little figurines. I work with a guy that's always painting little figures with a tiny brush.  Go by a hobby shop and ask them to recommend someone.

I used a Testor's silver paint pen. Go slow and be patient...very hard to tell the difference when you're done.

I used model car paint on mine too. I can repaint the panel if you're looking for someone to do it.

I restore these and here’s a couple that I’ve done. There are more pictures of these being restored in my thread in the company section.

Someone recently posted a transfer method for restoring these and vin plate numbers.  It was done by rubbing a transfer paper over the letters.  Very nice results.  I thought I save it for future reference, but for the life of me I can't find it.  :banghead:  Anybody else see it?

I did the letters on mine with a little brush and a lot of patience (not my strong suit).

Takes time...

Sorry, I need better pics.

I used a Q-Tip to apply the paint for the letters and the silver trim. Worked perfect.

You can use a toothpick to paint also. I used to use them on my models when I would lose or ruin my paintbrushes.

Paint pen here.  Did the letters and the circles around gauges.
