Ceramic Coated Headers

I screwed up.  When breaking in new lifters, was not paying attention to the drivers side too much and when I finally looked, noticed that the header tube from #1 and #5 were glowing red/orange.  Out in the direct light, hard to tell.  Shut engine down, too late.  Most of the coating on my TTI's on numbers 1 and 5 is gone   Any suggestions on some kind of repair while they are in my car?  I was thinking about getting some of the spray on and masking and shielding all around and spraying them.  Any other ideas?  Thanks!

I sprayed VHT exhaust paint on my headers.  The paint bubbled during cam break in.  So not sure how it will hold up.  The local powder coat place does not offer a coating that is heat resistant enough.

Eastwood sells some ceramic heat resistant paint for headers.  However, I think you'll have to take them off to apply.  Good luck.

Ive been in the car resto hobby for about 25 yrs.  To date, I have yet to find any spray can or brush on paint that will stay on any real length of time headers without eventually peeling or burning off:  Ive cleaned, scrubbed, pre heated, and aevn pre baked:  Nothing works as far a permanancy goes

Because of this problem I will be running in my cam with the engine out of the car with original manifolds on. I too have TTi headers and there is a special running in for them which clashes with cam running in.

I broke my engine in with some hooker shorties, then put the TTI's on.  But when I change out my lifters, I did a break in on them for about 15-18 minutes and that is when it happened.  I believe the problem came from a leak on my intake drivers side.
