there are a two ways to look at it , full groove pushes more oil to the load side of the brg, the other way to look at it is without more surface area spreads the load over a wider area . Personally my opinion the crank never touches the brg or the brg will be damaged , so oil is the critical film keeping the crank & brg surface apart so I always use a 3/4 or full groove brg to get more oil between the crank & the brg to protect them
