New Mexico is no longer a 'sanctuary' state!
« on: February 01, 2011 - 12:28:43 PM »
On Monday New Mexico's new governor Susanna Martinez issued an executive order allowing police officers to question the immigration status of suspicious people involved in a crime, thus removing New Mexico's status as a sanctuary state! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :2thumbs:

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Sounds great, they did that in MA with State Troopers a few years ago and then the next Gov promptly took that away.

I dont understand all the resistance to providing proof of residency. Cops ask for ID all the time, which translates to "your paperwork".  They need to know who theyre facing. I imagine it could be abused, but the average cop just wants proof that you are who you say you are. Whats wrong with that.
Being here illegally is AGAINST THE LAW, last time I checked.
And if you dont wnat a cop to have the right to ask you to prove exactly who you are when they stop you for a legitimate reason, and you are here illegally, then you should return to your country, where I'm sure you will have all kinds of better rights.

Gov. Suzanna Martinez is my Hero  :cooldancing:  She is bringing back some sanity to this backward (politically) state.  Selling the State plane for use by the Governor, put a hold on purchases of new State vehicles, and is asking citizens where cuts should be made.  :2thumbs: She also fired the entire Environmental Improvement Board on her first day in office.  The EIB forced through a Cap & Tax rule for the former Gov Bill Richardson right before his term ended.  Gov. Martinez is working to prevent it from becoming law.
Bill Richardson can go Fu%k himself!  :villagers:

Troutstream, you don't know the half of it. I have a close friend who is also a retired police officer that works security at the state capitol. He told me the other day she is also tracking down all of Richardson's cronies that he put on the payroll. He said she has already ferreted out 3 of them who live in Chicago of all places! Needless to say, they are no longer getting a paycheck from the state of New Mexico.  :woohoo:
