does anyone make a dash cap for a 1970 challenger? if not can you remove the pad without removing the dash?

It looks fine to me.
Mine was missing the pressed down mark for the challenger logo at the passanger side :(
But it was for 1970 modell

About the sun I don´t have a clue because either the car or the dash have seen the sun yet :)

I've had mine on for a few years now, little warping around the defroster vents so far.  I got mine on ebay for like 90 bucks a few years ago.  Car sees regular use and plenty of sun.

How do you like it? Any issues in the sun? I hear some have issues warping when they sit in the sun?
IMO they are junk. Mine looked decent when I first put it on, but after being in the sun a couple times it warped and split.

so this thing just gets glued on top for the old pad? has anyone put one with one speaker hole on top of a three speaker dash. i don't have a radio anyway. also can you remove the old cover without removing the dash?

1. - Yes it gets glued on.

2. - When I bought my car it had a single speaker dash cap while the car came with 3 speakers up front.

3. - You glue the dash cap over the old dash pad, if that is what you're asking. I believe the best way to do this is remove the dash, or at least have the front window removed.

Here are the hidden "nuts" to take off if trying to pull off the dash pad from the frame.
Don't for get the 2 visible screws  by the door and windshield pillar.



You can get to these by taking out the cluster and glove box liner
but it would be easier to take out the column and drop the dash out.

I find it easier to pull the whole dash out but there are lots of things to do before you can drop it out. A few things are dropping the column to the floor after taking out the seat, Unscrewing the bulkhead (fusebox and connectors) from the dash, and disconnecting any heater control cables and wires.

After loosening the 2 side nuts under the kick panels, the dash rotates down and out after taking out the 4 screws at rhe defroster vents.

I know MEK-Danger replaced his dash pad without pulling the dash out so he might want to say how hard or easy it was to do that. But for me, I can pull a column and dash out fairly quickly.

It was no day at the beach, that's for sure. You need a short 3/8" wrench to get those 3 speednuts up by the windshield. It helps if you are a contortionist too.   :grinyes:

I have a cap. Didn't bother glueing it.Once I saw the difference,Really wanted a new pad.There is no comparison IMO. Looks cheap because it is. I'm not saying caps can't be made to look/fit good.It is just a place I'd spend/save for a proper replacement.It's the dash...everyone looks at it.And you see it everytime you drive. Removing the dash isn't too hard,Just takes time. If you pull it,You might want to consider doing some other stuff too while it's out....

My big beef with having a cap was I hated the hard plastic feel of it. It didn't look bad though, so I can see going this way on a budget. I swapped mine out for a new pad. I'm glad I did.
