!970 Plum Crazy R/T
« on: February 02, 2011 - 06:24:19 PM »
Hey Everyone,

Back in the early 80's, I had a GK5 Dark Burnt Orange R/T that was pretty well loaded.  Well, I totaled that car in a serious head-on collision.  The last time I sat in a Challenger was when the paramedics were pulling me out of the car.  I always promised myself that someday I'd have another.  Well, life, kids, marriage, divorce, jobs all got in the way but last week I finally bought one.  1970, Plum Crazy, Auto, Factory Air, PS, PDB, PW, 6-Way Seat, Go-Wing, numbers matching.  One of the more loaded Challengers I've ever seen.

It's on a carrier from Southern California to Texas now, but I thought it would be time to sign-up here.  Got 20 years of catch-up learning to do!

Thanks to member DoNotChallengeHer for helping me get through the spam filters and signed up!

Welcome and congrats!! :2thumbs:  That's a beautiful car.  Mind if I ask if it is original or restored?  Don't worry there are a lot of wonderful people here that will help you get caught up in a hurry!  :2thumbs:   :wavingflag:

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

According to the previous owner (I am owner 4) the car has been repainted, the engine was sent to Muscle Motors in Grand Rapids, MI to be freshened up and the transmission was rebuilt by Bob Mazzolini.  However it is all numbers matching, no rust, never wrecked and everything else is as it was from the factory.  I'll definitely re-paint the car...there are a lot of flaws when you look up close, and I'll see how big of a cam they installed.  I may go for a milder grind for a 440.

Mike, Welcome, glad you finally made it over here.   Your Challenger is beautiful  :2thumbs:

Thanks for making this Mopar refugee feel so welcome Jackie.
