I think the rarest or the rare in options was the one where a wife said

'yes honey , order what you want!"  :misbehaving:

I'm going with rear seat shoulder belts.  How many have you seen?  My 70 Challenger has them (fender tag code C-14).  I've never seen another one, have any of you?  PK

What about the amber colored fog lights? Was there a fender code for them?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the amber roadlamps where an Canadian thing? Maybe some US states requiered them to? There are som 67/68 Mustang GTs with them too.
PK could you post a picture of your rear seat, that option would be cool to see!

OK I have a couple of pictures, not specifically showing the rear seat shoulder belts but a general view of the rear seat.  You can see both belts which are anchored on the rear shelf.  It appears that they just hang when not in use with no stowage clips available.  I'll will try to locate a fender tag picture to include with this post. Note the C-14 code.   PK

So if they weren't a code perhaps was it an option on the sales option checklist?
I'm thinking that was possibly how.

OK, how about this.... painted roof?

I have a pic of a '70 Challenger T/A with a painted black roof from the factory.  I think Barry said there were about 3 made or something crazy like that.  Must be less than the number of cars made with mod tops, luggage racks, etc...

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Pic #2 and 3 of my ARII 1/24 scale model car

"about 3 made or something"

Definitely a rare option but not that rare for all E bodies as you mentioned.
T/A's that could be a different story.

I really liked that look and bought the trim to do that to mine but after I thought about a black roof in the hot sun.... :eek4:   I decided  to " think about it some more"  :grinyes:

Those rear seatbelts are kinda cool. Is it just the same belt as the front shoulder belt?

ok, here's a coupe Q's for everyone who posted

1 - what qualifies as a rare option. meaning did only one car have it, or 2 -10 - 20 - 50 - 100 - 500 ? IMHO i would think that a rare option would be less than 10 or 20.

2 - are we talking about a single option or a combination ? it looks like some of you that posted say that "this car with this, this and that make it rare".
i can understand that but the thread is titled "the rarest option", not options ( plural )

My vote for the rarest single option would be the rear shoulder belts.

I also remember seeing a picture of a trunk mounted cigarette lighter.  I don't know if that was part of another package or an option by itself though.  I think it was mounted in the torsion spring bracket that is on the inner wheel well.
