I have an untouched broken gold 70 console.  It looks like it is a tan console that the factory dyed gold.  The gold is only on the outside.
:picture: Can you post a picture of it by any chance please :2thumbs:

I tried to get a pic today.  It was hard to see the difference.  I do have a piece off of it.  I will try to get a pic in the sun tomorrow.  Maybe the difference can be seen that way.

Any luck with a picture ?

I found another picture of a Gold console in a car also.

I am not trying to knock it, just asking...

Is that a factory set up with a gold dash, white door panels and seats, darker white or light tan center console, and tan carpet?  Seems like a whole lot going on there.

I really am not trying to knock it.  The more I look at it, the more it grows on me.  I was just wondering.

The thing is with this particular picture i posted is that it is a Y9 exterior car and a White interior car, the problem with that is, there was no such thing as White carpet or White dash pad or a White console, so Mopar went with what matched closes to the exterior color and this case it is a Gold exterior car so it got Gold internals that were not available in White :2thumbs:
Usually you will see a Black and White interior and Black will be where no White interior parts were available :grinyes:

Mikes actual Gran Coupe was in fact a full Gold interior that Ma Mopar would have color dyed the door panels the same as they did from new on the console to end up in gold color also. :swaying:

So, it all boils down to what was on the fender tag or how someone wants to build there own car in the end. Personal taste over originality.
I still think that an all Gold interior with a B5 Blue dash would work best in Topcats car and still retain its original ultra rare P6Y3 Gold interior.

Do you have the rest of that console ? Are you sure it is a '71 console or is it a '70 console ?

I also talked to Todd and he said he used SEM products to re-dye the interior in his T/A Challenger, but he did say that it is slightly off and i suggest talking to a knowledgeable paint representative or a well known paint shop and talk to them to find out what would be best to get a product to penetrate in to the plastic to recolor it and what formula would be best with what percentage to get the satin like finish the same as the factory interior parts were painted, if they could do it back in 1971, i see no problem to as why they could not do an even better solution to recoloring door panels and other plastic pieces. :2thumbs:

I threw it out a few weeks ago when I started cleaning the shop to get room to do my cars.  I do have another piece of it.  It is a 70.  The part I have left is where the seatbelts go.  SEM seems to be the best product.  You can take the original Chrysler codes to them and they should be able to cross reference the codes and make the paint.

Kenny,

You'll like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOPAR-1970-BARRACUDA-ORIGINAL-FENDER-TAG-PLYMOUTH-GRAN-COUPE-/150738600780?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2318b8834c

1970 Gran Coupe, EF8 with P6YX interior!  That would have looked sharp!

Yeah :2thumbs: that would look cool, still not a '71 Gran coupe interior, P6 for '71 is super rare, but P6 for '70 is pretty common but still real nice

Thanks for sharing.
