i worked for a P.I attorney for 6 years...

fair market value ? no ... if you have the car insured with classic car insurance take THAT paper work with you and if you had the car appraised show them that too that way they know how much the car is WORTH not what the "fair" market value is unless they say 40gs is "fair"...

as far as what the car has under the hood PLEASE TELL ME YOU KEPT RECIEPTS paypal, credit card, or physical reciepts.

DONT LET THEM TREAT THIS AS A NORMAL ACCIDENT because its not.

Glad no one was seriously injuried, but the pic was sickening to see. I agree about having Haggerty make a settlement for repairs and reinbursment from the semi drivers insurance. Was it an owner-operator or a company owned rig? Man, good luck through all of this.

Glad you’re OK.  That’s messed up.  Is the trucker from a national agency?  I hope they do the right thing and cover the rebuild cost.
Aside from the Cuda - I hope you took the time to go to the hospital and get checked out; X-rays, physical, etc.  Keep track of medical.

Fair market value; Would Barrett-Jackson auctions be a good representation of what the car is worth?
Just a thought.

Definitely get checked out, and I would try to keep the car as well. It looks very fixable (body panels damaged obviously, but not traumatic structurally)

Good luck and post up with how it works for you. Man that breaks my heart! I feel for you!

YIKES!!   :22yikes:  Bummer about the car. Glad no one was hurt too badly. I work as a service writer at a body/mechanical repair shop. The car is definately fixable. As far as how to go about the insurance deal, I would suggest letting the trucking company's insurance handle it. If they have accepted liability for the accident, they are responsible for the repairs. All you need to do is provide proof of value and what Hagerty's has it valued at and what they have it insured for. You should also be allowed to take it to the repair shop of your choice. IF the trucking company's insurance balks, THEN fall back to Hagerty and let them pay for repairs and haggle it out with the other insurance carrier.....   :2cents:

I hate hearing of anything like this, but glad to hear nobody was seriously hurt. I worked in insurance claims seveal years ago and this is my 2 cents worth. Go through Hagerty to have the car repaired, they specialize in collecter cars and have a better understanding than a carrier that mainly deals with daily driven commuter cars. After the repairs are complete Hagerty will then submit the bill to the other insurance company for reimbursement. Let the Hagerty fight for you, they want to keep your business and they know what it takes to fix your car right.

 :iagree:

1st , Glad everyone is ok.. :2thumbs:

Let your company subro. against the trucking company insurance carrier, Haggerty are the experts in Classic cars not the trucking company...

Good Luck and hope your son heals real soon...

:sadwavey: Wow, like the others have already said, glad to see you and your son are ok.  Your car on the other hand...wow, real sorry for the damage that happened.  I hope it gets fixed up like new, it's a great looking car.

As mentioned several times above, I'm glad you all are ok!  The car can always be fixed/replaced...people, not so much.

I have Haggery Insurance, so i will find it interesting how they handle the claim.  Please keep us posted.

If they do a great job, then we might want to be willing to give them some business, for helping our fellow cuda-challenger buddy!

Glad your all unscathed, poor coooda Hagerty will probably pay you for the full amount you insured for since it was the other drivers fault. I have hagerty and they paid me when a illegal alien came 3 lanes over and scraped the side of my gran Coupe.

OMG!  That looks brutal!  Glad you guys are okay.  Car sure doesn't look good.  Hope it can be saved.  That being said, if Hagerty offers to total it for you, you may want to go that route and see if they will let you keep the car for parts.  Then go out and find another car that you can rebuild.  Something with no structural damage like someone else's incomplete project that they either have to sell or have given up on.
