I've seen what a fantastic job some locals here have done on their cars: Topcat and 4SpeedFish (who sold his car to someone in Ky) so I know I could get a lot of advice on the work.

I am the someone in KY and the car is fantastic.  Glad no one was injured and hope things work out for you.

Thanks for the good thoughts.  The Hagerty's adjuster has someone who is local (SF Bay Area) coming to assess the damage today.  I'll know more by this evening about the insurance process.

As already mentioned, it's great to hear everyone involved with the accident is okay.  As for the car, that was sickening to see the before & "now" photo! :(  Hopefully your insurance comes through in the end & gets it back to how it once was without any integrity issues. :2thumbs:

I'm so sorry to see this happened to you/your son, but at least nobody was seriously injured or worse.

I hate hearing of anything like this, but glad to hear nobody was seriously hurt. I worked in insurance claims seveal years ago and this is my 2 cents worth. Go through Hagerty to have the car repaired, they specialize in collecter cars and have a better understanding than a carrier that mainly deals with daily driven commuter cars. After the repairs are complete Hagerty will then submit the bill to the other insurance company for reimbursement. Let the Hagerty fight for you, they want to keep your business and they know what it takes to fix your car right.

I agree 100%

Hagerty will take care of you, but it just matters how much you set your stated value insurance. And maybe you can move that a little with current market value.

:pullinghair:  Words can't really explain the frustration of seeing your Cuda like that.  Thank God your son is OK.  Keep us updated on your progress with the insurance claim.

No matter HOW nice it is/was, it's just a car. You can buy another car, but you can't buy another son and thank God, according to you, he's ok. THAT's what's important to keep paramount in your mind. You've received some good advice already- let YOUR carrier deal with the third party's company; that's part of what you pay insurance for. I'm sure you'll be treated fairly, but don't sign a full and final release until a couple of weeks at least, to make sure everybody is ok. Keep us posted.

Again, thanks for all the good thoughts.  We are out of the country for a two-week vacation, so the car is currently on hold, but I'll post when there's news.

I think I'm going to get Haggerty. Everyone has good comments about them and as it was said, they are the experts on classic cars not the others.

Glad everyone is OK and safe!  :angelwings:

First I'm glad no one was hurt bad!!!!!!!!!!!!! As far as keeping the car ....YES you can, you just need to stand firm on it and tell the insurance that you intend to keep it. Don't let them push you around. When I smashed the front of my ram 2 years ago they wanted to total it and take it. They said that if they total a car they deem it not safe to fix and want to take it. I told them they had better find a way around that policy as the truck was not leaving my garage.  Long story short I keep ed my truck and fixed it. With todays laser frame machines I would not be afraid of a bent under body at all. My best advice if get prepared for a fight mentally and hope it go's good. I think most of the time when they come across someone that knows something they play ball a lot better.

BEST OF LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
