Haven't posted for a long while, so I thought it would at least be polite to check in. The Cuda is going back together now. Most of the hard stuff is done. I had hoped that we'd be a lot farther along by now, but I had to leave it alone for a couple of months, so now I'm finally getting back to it. AARcuda33 and AARuFast helped me with some measurements when I couldn't get the tail panel and trunk to fit each other. The AMD panel didn't have enough arch to it; AMD sent me another--it was a better stamping, but it was still too flat along the top. Finally ordered a generic one on Ebay from "rocparlic" in Mt. Clemens, MI. It turned out to be a Goodmark/Sherman panel which fit a LOT better to the trunk lid. Had to weld a couple of emblem holes shut, but very glad that I was finally able to resume putting the car back together after losing about three weeks on the tail panel fitment. Put a door skin on after straightening (I thought) the door. Turned out that the front contour of the door was off and so it wouldn't line up with the fender.
Speaking of the fender: I was one one of the faithful convinced that the AMD fenders were just a week or two away from reality. When they failed to materialize, my buddy, Bob (4SpeedFish), found a Goodmark one on Ebay from Galeana Chrysler in S. Carolina. They were great and immediately arranged shipment. Well, FedEx nearly destroyed it (along with a crate engine Galeana was sending elsewhere). Since there were no other fenders out there, I kept the beat-up one, got a price adjustment, and pounded out the dents. Hung the fender, and that's when I saw that the door with door skin wasn't going to work. Got a used door (at the Ohlone swap meet), got it sandblasted, fixed the rust-through holes on the bottom, and filled the 100+ dings. Put it on, and now have the driver's side about done. The header panel got a little banged up too so I'll be working on that next.
Anyway, I appreciate all the supportive comments, help and advice I've received over these six months. I'll post some more as the car slowly returns to its former condition.
