It came in over $20K.  BTW, the passenger side quarter had holes in in too, so all the sheet metal from the doors back had to be replaced.

Wow $20K!  Hard to estimate the damage from one photo showing only one side.  Ya gotta be there "in person" I guess.  It looks like you will be getting it back even better than it was before!

Another update: It's been about eight months since our car's unfortunate encounter with a truck on the freeway. I've been fitting and sanding with the help and encouragement of 4speedFish (I call him Bob).  The car just got back from the painter, although he's going to cut and polish it when I get the trunk lid and hood back on.  Although I have freshly painted parts on the living room floor, it feels good to be actually putting things back on the car and throwing away the little labelled baggies as I go.
Sunday I masked and painted the tail panel with the Organisol spray from TotallyAuto (just like I did the first time four year ago) and put the taillights in for real, although I think I'll take one out temporarily until we get the trunk lock in and working.
A couple of photos:  the first one taken last week the day before the car went to get colorized; the second one of its return from the painter Saturday.

It's nice to be getting parts out of the house and back on to the car.  It's up on jack stands now because my buddy Bob (4 speed fish) shamed me into dropping the trans because of the leaks.  He said it made the most sense to do it now while the console and carpeting was out. I had to agree (especially with all the help he's provided). Waiting on a seal and bearing kit from Brewer's.
As with any project, We've had a few setbacks.  The paint on the front rubber bumper has some hairline cracks in the thin sections because the primer didn't have enough flex (I think).  I have to deal with that.
The back end is essentially done.  Here are a couple of pictures of "ground zero".  The tail panel chrome trim is the same in both pix after quite a bit of tweaking, tapping, and polishing.

you hammered  out the trim yourself?  i'm impressed!  i picked up a partially twisted set years ago, but haven't had the curage to try and straighten it.  the car is looking great!
