Help me decide please? Your opinion needed....
« on: February 14, 2011 - 05:47:31 AM »
Ok,

I am trying to decide whether or not to put a vinyl top back on my care.  It originally had one.  Parts of me think it would look good and parts of me think it looks fine like it is.

So I am asking for your help deciding.  Should I put it back on or not?

Thanks

Ted

Kind of depends on what state you are in.
Are you in a heavy rain fall or snow fall state?
Do you have a garage that this car sits in all the time.

Vinyl tops take alot of care.

Aside from the care issue, I would put it back on if it was original to the car.

Hey guys,

Additional information and answers to your questions

Car is in northern Indiana.  Not a daily driver (Sunday driver).  Garage kept ...heated and cooled.

I think the vinyl would look good on your car.

I would definitely go with the vinyl top, especially if it was original to the car.  IMHO, vinyl tops help with the "Classic" look.   :2thumbs:

IMO, except in a few rare cases, vinyl tops have no place on a muscle car.  I like yours without it.  Just my  :2cents:

it might look better without, but if its an original and esp if its a #s match car, you need the vinyl top.

thats the real question how original is the car ? if not completely numbers matching then its just a preference thing,,and then it depends on the color the car is ,,on whether it would look good or not,,then there is the care issue to keep the vinyl top in good condition,,personally I like these cars without the vinyl top,,  :2cents:

Hey guys,

I appreciate all the input.  The car is not numbers matching.  It originally had a 383 and was dark green in color with a vinyl top.  I am just struggling with the color and vinyl top as to whether it would look good or not.  The car and upkeep of the top I am not worried about as I mentioned earlier ...it is garage kept and not driven regularly.
