Some cars do look pretty good with a vinyl roof on them, others not so much. The issue I have with E body vinyl roofs, especially Challengers, are the seams. The way the seams run over the roof seem to conflict with the associated roof and body lines and make it look disproportioned and awkward, IMO.

Brandon ( burntorangeT/A ) has almost the same colour with a vinal roof. Look at his pictures to get an idea how it would look?  I think it looks great just how it is!

Since it's not number matching, it really won't help or hurt the value one way or the other.  Right now there is a lot of orange.  I think it needs some stripes to break up the color a little bit.  The hood blackout was a good choice.  Maybe someone can photoshop a 71 non R/T strip on one of your pictures to see what it will look like.

Now that I've seen the larger pix, I say keep it the way it is and forget the vinyl.

Well... kind of an off the wall idea...

You could put a vinyl wrap on the top.  They have great textures and I don't think it's too expsnsive to do.  If you don't like it the wrap pulls off without hurting the paint.  If you do like it, then go for the real thing at some point.

I think the car looks great without it!

And since the body work was done to eliminate the studs for the moulding, it'd be a PITA I'd think to tear up that beautiful paint and put a top on it and cover it up with trim...

If you had a high impact color like green go or citron yella, you might need the vinyl to break it up.  I think my car would be TOO yella without it.

I'm a big fan of the vinyl tops so I said yes for mine.  Yours would look great with but looks great without too.
