CAP auto strut bar question **TORQUE**
« on: February 16, 2011 - 06:19:55 PM »

I cant find the email from a year agowhere Ray told me what the torque should be on the front mounting bolt and it is still not a shown anywhere in the online instructions.

(I would have thought the instructions would have been updated by now??)

I am pretty p*ssed right now....I had the info somewhere and now cant find it.

I am having an issue with the front connector rotating out of the 2 o'clock position to more of a 9/3 oclock position.

Anyone know of hand what the torque setting should be?

Just for anyone else looking for this info, and for me another year from now when I need it again....LOL.....

The torque on the front bolt is supposed to be 42 ft/lbs wet, the rear nut 75 ft/lbs wet.

That would be my preference, but would not look factory, which is important to some.

The part I am talking about is a bolt......the bolt itself sure doesnt seem like it is loosening up.....its almost like the joint itself is turning/cant grab the k-member enough to stay put.....    :dunno:

Ah, So looking from the front of the K-frame you see a bolt, then a washer (of some sort), then going into the threaded body that the rod end is bolted to??

Yep......its a bolt, then an aluminum washer (thick) against the k member.....then, behind the k member, a chunk that the strut attaches to via a heim joint. The bolt threads into that chunk.

Hummm that's what I thought? I don't see how that's ever gonna stay tight? Road/engine Vibrations, movement from suspension cycling etc....  This is one reason to mount it with rubber/urethane  IMO. Is there enough room to drill out the threads to put the bolt through from the other side and use a lock nut and bolt? Fine thread is stronger too.
