Good find.  Figure the oil and filter will cost at least that much.  Just watch out for the upsell...  :sly:

We have had a few of those here, usually don't change the oil filter or if they do it is usually fram rubbish, they use their own oil, you don't get a say and when wheels come off your brakes need "urgent attention". How do I know, my Mother in-law just had her front and rear brakes overhauled in my workshop and she went for one of these deals and they said that the car wasn't going anywhere till the brakes were done. Rang me in a panic and I spoke to them and told them who I was, a Brake & Clutch workshop owner and they changed their tune saying an apprentice had made a "mistake", yeah right.   :banghead:

Uggghhhh...you hear that story all to many times.  My dad had broken mirror, went to the dealership and like $700 later he got the mirror replaced along with brakes, oil change...  :faint:

Even better value on that coupon if it's synthetic oil!!!

Good price....but I am not a fan of Firestone, or their service.  I have to use them for my work truck, as the company has an account there.

I took my truck in last Friday for a oil change, and I told them I was having an issue with the motor surging at idle and asked them to take a look at it.  They had the truck all day, I dropped it off before 7 am and picked it up at 6:30 pm.  The truck never left the spot I parked it in the morning  :clueless: I told them I was there to pick up my truck, the service manager looked it up in the computer, he didn't say anything to me and walked out to the service area.  when he returned, he said they where having troubles diagnosing the problem with the motor surging.  I said that's ok, I will take it to the dealer, and have them look at it.   He then said they didn't change the oil yet, and could I wait while they did it.  :screwy:

I said NO, as I had other things to do.  I then suggest that they come pick it up from my house on Saturday since the incovienced me for not getting it done on Friday.  They told me they couldn't as it is against company policy.  So know i have to take it back to get the oil changed, and arrange for someone to come get me or wait on them to change it.  :villagers:

At $5 a quart retail, I cant see a dealer doing a full synthetic oil change for only $15 as that means they are giving away a filter and all the labor. Since labor is where they make margin, I couldn/t imagine they would give that away. So, reading through that, I saw some text about synthetic blends being another $15-18 and full synthetic being an additional $26-28. That makes more sense.

I'm no fan either. Classic bait and switch upsell trick to get you in the door.
And who knows what kind of "oil" and filter they will use on the $14.99 special.

Aren't us flat tappet guys suppose to be using something with high ZDDP content. I could safely assume you won't be getting that with a 15$ oil change.

yep,
need zddp in mine.
I use an additive, and I would never let some kid at firestone touch my car, though I can see where it would be attractive to someone with a tight budget, not handy with cars, and need the oil changed in their beater.
Which probably describes about half the drivers out there.

Even though mines not done yet, after all the hours I have spent and will spend, not to mention $, the last thing I would do is have some high school kid change the oil on my baby to save a few $.  Like several have said, it's a gimmick to get you in the door for up-sales.  My parents took their Tahoe in for an oil leak and walked out $2500 later in totally necessary up-sales.  :villagers:

Imagine if someone was actually trusting enough to bring in their Challenger/Cuda in for this special and leave the car for the day?  :screwy:

You'd come back at the end of the day saying to yourself that you didn't notice all those burnout marks in the parking lot earlier in the day...  :roflsmiley:
