Anyone using Spectre Air Filters?
« on: February 17, 2011 - 03:46:10 AM »
Yesterday I bought a Spectre hpR air filter from autozone for $19.99  They look to be a clone of K&N filters for about half the price.  Plus they are offering a $10 rebate on their website, http://www.spectreperformance.com/#HOME making them even more enticing to buy for only 10 bucks!

Has anyone used their products before?  This is my 1st purchase.

If your running a stock 340 air cleaner it does not appear that Spectre has one to fit, they do list one for a 318
The 14" you show would fit many aftermarket & cheby air cleaners.

It's for the edelbrock air cleaner I got last year.

I run one of their cone shaped units on my LSX powered Chevelle.  I never had a problem with the quality, they seem pretty comparable to the K&N stuff I run on some of my other cars.  For $10 it is worth a shot, since a disposable element goes for almost that much.

I was running a K&N cone type on my BMW.  They kept splitting out so I changed to the Spectre.  It was cheaper and has been more durable.

Im running the spectre (lid, filter and base) on my 350 chevy, and filter lid on my 440 shaker set up:  Both are 14":  The 14" Im running on my shaker is a tad large, but seals ok at the base, and works fine

I have cleaned and recharged both filters, and they seem the same materila and quality as K/N
