Right now it's the 2 tone yellow over black for safety reasons.  I had it painted flat black with my bad attempt at yellow 71 R/T stripes for a while.  I saw a black Challenger with orange stripes at Carlisle and really liked the look so I went with yellow.  Unfortunately most of the time when coming home from cruise nights it's dark and I've had a few near misses so I'm trying to make the car as visible as possible.  I think OSHA yellow is a good choice!  I'm also leaning toward some combination of black/yellow in memory of a friend of mine who shared a love of Mopars.  My buddy Dave had a 70 Super Bee that was yellow with black stripes.  We worked on each others cars while sharing a rented garage.  Dave succumbed to a faulty heart valve and died a few years ago, so I'd like to keep the "team colors" alive.

The scheme it has now is an attempt to make it more visible, but I could only find 4 cans of OSHA yellow at the hardware store, so the rest was black.  Unfortunately it now looks like a poor mans Foose rip off.  Therefore back to the drawing board.  At the time, money was being dumped into the new 440, so I only had pocket money for paint.

Future plans:  I would LOVE an all black Challenger with the yellow 71 stripes, but again, I'm afraid some knucklehead will T-bone me at night.  The car is not original and never will be so I'm not leaning towards stock colors.  My big picture plan for the car is "1976".  I want to build the car as it would have looked when it was a few years old, as they were actually USED.  Aftermarket 8 track player, mag wheels, barefoot gas pedal etc.  Most cars I see in shows have been restored to show room condition.  I think it would be interesting to build a car that would have fit in the scene I remember as a child.  So far it's been pretty easy, most people are discarding their vintage parts in favor of NOS so I pick some stuff up pretty cheap.  I have some original Direct Connection parts socked away including a hood tach.  Not sure what will actually make it on the car but hey, it's still under construction.

I don't have many pics on this comp but I'll scour my hard drives and see what I have socked away somewhere.  Thanks for the interest!

No offence but I think that paint job looks terrible like that.
You should be nailed to a bit of wood for doing that to the car.  :bricks1:

I can dig that, I like the "Day 2" look myself.  While my car is mostly stock, I have bolts ons (or maybe not so bolt on) stuff like Keystone Klassics, Mr Gasket Street Scoop, Air Shocks, '71 style Go-Wing.  Already have the Pioneer 8 track player in the car.

I like that old school look too.

I have a few sets of Keystones.

Scored a set of floor mats that say barracuda across the top of them.

Really, I think the car is cool.  Rattle can or not.  IT DRIVES  !!!!      That's all that matters really.

I've got a similar nickname and I love yours, but let's talk about your car.  What size wheels and tires do you have on there?  I just picked up four 15x7 cop car wheels and I'm deciding on tires now.

Thanks!

I have the same cop wheels on mine right now.  I got a set of redline dog dish caps on for now.  I don't recall offhand what size they are but I went one size bigger in the back (T/A style) to stop the butt-drag it was doing.  Next time I see the car I'll make a note.
